Ties between Mitre 10, Mitre 10 stores and local communities have always proved invaluable as a way in which to contribute back to the community. Being an active participant in social causes, strengthens relationships and helps in shaping Mitre 10 as a socially responsible corporate entity. In June 2007, Mitre 10 helped to raise $79,500 for SIDS and kids by selling Red Nose Day merchandise in our stores. All proceeds from the sale of merchandise go to SIDS and kids to help them reach their goal in eliminating sudden or unexpected infant death and offering bereavement services to those effected by early childhood deaths. In December 2007, Mitre 10 stores sold $156,000 worth of Lions Christmas cakes. All proceeds went to the Lions Club of Australia to assist with their wide array of charitable work done throughout Our sponsorship objectives endeavour to focus efforts on local store activities, working closely with the community to deliver direct and long term benefits. Concentrating on community involvement allows Mitre 10 staff to get involved at the grass roots level and gives back to the community. Sponsorships must have relevance to our objectives as outline above. For a sponsorship to be considered, it must be a strategic fit delivering the outlined objectives in a cost effective way. Sponsorships must have relevance to our products or our brand and relate to company position. They must be comparable with any existing arrangements and be matched to our customer profile. Mitre 10 often lends its support to various state-based and national community sponsorships, as a means of contributing back to the community. Importantly, many Mitre 10 stores are active participants in their local communities through sponsorship of local sport, charities and community support programs.
