Ties between Mitre 10, Mitre 10 stores and local communities have always proved invaluable as a way in which to contribute back to the community. Being an active participant in social causes, strengthens relationships and helps in shaping Mitre 10 as a socially responsible corporate entity. Recent fundraisers are detailed below:

Red Nose Day - 2007

In June 2007, Mitre 10 helped to raise $79,500 for SIDS and kids by selling Red Nose Day merchandise in our stores. All proceeds from the sale of merchandise go to SIDS and kids to help them reach their goal in eliminating sudden or unexpected infant death and offering bereavement services to those effected by early childhood deaths.

Lions Club of Australia Christmas Cake Drive

In December 2007, Mitre 10 stores sold $156,000 worth of Lions Christmas cakes. All proceeds went to the Lions Club of Australia to assist with their wide array of charitable work done throughout Australia.

Sponsorship Objectives

Our sponsorship objectives endeavour to focus efforts on local store activities, working closely with the community to deliver direct and long term benefits. Concentrating on community involvement allows Mitre 10 staff to get involved at the grass roots level and gives back to the community.

•    Lift consumer awareness of the Mitre 10 brand as a community based good citizen
•    Community Involvement - Creating a localised approach
•    Staff Involvement - Enhancing morale
•    Long Term Commitment presenting ongoing opportunities for relationship building
•    Educating Australian consumers to make better product choices for our country's benefit
•    Synergy between the cause and Mitre 10 as a business entity

Assessment of Projects

Sponsorships must have relevance to our objectives as outline above. For a sponsorship to be considered, it must be a strategic fit delivering the outlined objectives in a cost effective way. Sponsorships must have relevance to our products or our brand and relate to company position. They must be comparable with any existing arrangements and be matched to our customer profile.

Mitre 10 as a sponsor must not be in conflict with sponsors of a similar business already supporting the applicant. Sponsorships must be non-discriminatory and meet all legal requirements. Sponsorship requests should be put in writing to enable proper evaluation.

National Projects

Mitre 10 often lends its support to various state-based and national community sponsorships, as a means of contributing back to the community. Importantly, many Mitre 10 stores are active participants in their local communities through sponsorship of local sport, charities and community support programs.

Most recently Mitre 10 has partnered with Landcare Australia in an effort to clean up Australian waterways. Mitre 10 has donated substantial funds to each project to assist Landcare Groups in tackling issues such as salinity, soil erosion and water pollution throughout Australia.

In addition to the financial support, Mitre 10 becomes involved in community-oriented programs where customers share ownership of real projects making tangible improvements in their local areas.
