How to Grow
Position: Full Sun
How
Choose a sunny, well-drained position and mix Yates Dynamic Lifter into the soil. Sow seed direct where the plants are to grow, sowing 2-3 seeds at each position and later thin to the strongest plant. Or raise seedlings in small pots of Yates Seed Raising Mix. Transplant seedlings into their final position when 5 cm tall. When growing in pots, choose a pot at least 30 cm in diameter and fill with Yates Premium Potting Mix. Keep the soil or potting mix consistently moist.
Care
Feed plants every fortnight with Yates Thrive Flower & Fruit Soluble Fertiliser. Protect from snails and slugs with Yates Snail & Slug Bait.
Hint
Pick young and tender fruit anytime up to 20 cm long. Mature fruit can develop interesting bumps on the skin. Regular picking will promote a longer harvest.
Rich in flavour and vibrant in colour, Yates Heirloom Squash Crookneck Yellow is a classic summer variety that produces an abundant harvest. Its bright yellow, curved fruit boasts a creamy, mild-tasting flesh, making it a versatile addition to the kitchen. Perfect for grilling, roasting, or adding to fresh salads, this heirloom variety retains its traditional taste that gardeners have cherished for generations.
The dense, bushy plants are easy to grow and thrive in warm conditions, offering a reliable yield throughout the season. Whether planted in garden beds or large containers, they provide a rewarding crop with minimal effort. Ideal for home gardeners looking to enjoy fresh, homegrown produce, these squash plants require well-drained soil and a sunny position to flourish. With their striking appearance and delicious flavour, they not only enhance the garden but also bring colour and taste to any dish.
