Following an entire redevelopment and rebrand from Home Timber Hardware to Mitre 10 Trade Centre in mid-2019, more than 120 tradies flocked to witness the unveiling of the new Fagg’s Mitre 10 Belmont Timber late last year. “It’s the biggest timber offering in our business and arguably in Geelong, occupying half a suburban block, “says Andrew Pitman, General Manager at Fagg’s Mitre 10 Belmont Timber.

Established in the early 1950s by legendary Geelong Cats supporter Alex Popescu, Belmont Timber is highly regarded for its trade excellence, servicing a customer base of major builders and the public via a strong delivered-to-site offer and drive-through pick-up format. Between the 1970s and 1990s, the business expanded with storage sheds and offices opening along Barwon Heads and Breakwater Roads, making it one of the largest suppliers of building products in the area.

Belmont Timber was then acquired by Fagg’s Geelong in April 2018. “Collectively, we operate four stores – South Geelong, Belmont Timber, Wallington and Torquay – which gives us the ability to service the greater Geelong region, the Surf Coast, the Bellarine Peninsula and beyond Apollo Bay,” Andrew says. “With over 240 staff, 17 delivery vehicles and four locations, Fagg’s Mitre 10 Belmont Timber is arguably the largest timber and hardware merchant in the region.” Belmont Timber was a “visionary in its layout”, and the new store is no different. Aligned with Mitre 10’s motto, “Get in, get out, get on with it!” the Trade Centre is sure to provide a new experience for tradies.
