DIY Project Steps

1. Prep the area

First, lay down your drop sheet to prepare your workspace. Before picking up your paintbrush, make sure to read the preparation instructions on the product’s label.

2. Clean and prep the surface

To ensure a professional finish, you will need to thoroughly clean the wall and make sure the surface is smooth. Fill in any holes or blemishes in the walls before getting started using Selley’s Mortar Works.

3. Stir primer

Now it’s time to prime the surface for a long-lasting texture effect. Make sure to stir the Dulux Texture Primer thoroughly in an up and down scooping motion.

4. Apply primer

Apply first with the brush in hard-to-reach places like edges and corners, then use a roller to fill in the remaining area of the wall.

5. Leave to dry

Leave primer to dry for at least 4 hours in warmer weather conditions before you start to apply Dulux Texture Medium Cover.

6. Cut in

Stir the contents of Dulux Texture Medium Cover with a broad, flat paddle in an up-and-down scooping motion, then use your paint brush to cut into areas that aren’t accessible with the hand mitt.

7. First coat

Now using your mitt, scoop Dulux Texture Medium Cover from the bucket and apply it to the wall. Work the material into all the gaps and broadly across the wall in random sweeping patterns.

8. Dry

Allow surface to dry for 4 hours before proceeding with the second coat.

9. Clean and prep the surface

To ensure a professional finish, you will need to thoroughly clean the wall and make sure the surface is smooth. Fill in any holes or blemishes in the walls before getting started using Selley’s Mortar Works.

10. Project complete

Once you’ve finished your feature wall in Dulux Texture Medium Cover, you can style up the space and begin entertaining friends and family.
