This hook allows for the towel to be more easily hung over the vertical rail. Whilst the vertical rail will assist in drying your towel, it does have less surface contact than a ladder rail and therefore will be less effective in drying and warming your towel than a ladder
It is recommended to use of a timer to control the rails and save on running costs
