How to Make a Wooden Vase
Wooden dowel vases and planters are a beautiful accent that can enhance any home decor. DIY Project Steps
1. Cut timber to size
Grab a vase you want to use. Take your vase and measure its height using a tape measure, chose a height for your dowels either equal height to your vase or slightly taller, depending on your preference. Mark the measured height along your piece of dowel and carefully cut the dowels along the marked lines using a saw or appropriate cutting tool. You can also ask the friends staff at your local store to assist with cutting the dowel.
2. Apply wood adhesive
Using a brush, coat the exterior of the jar with wood adhesive, ensuring that a complete layer covers the surface evenly. Begin at the bottom or base of the jar and continue applying the adhesive around its circumference.
3. Attach the dowel lengths
Place a rubber band around the jar, forming a secure loop that will help hold the dowels in place. Apply a thin layer of glue to one side of a dowel length. Lift the rubber band slightly to create a gap, providing space for the dowel to be placed. Position the first dowel length against the side of the jar, pressing it firmly onto the applied glue.
4. Repeat until jar covered
Repeat the process, applying a thin line of glue and lifting the rubber band each time, until all the dowel lengths are securely attached around the jar.
Tip: After attaching each dowel length, ensure to assess its straightness.
As an alternative, you can stain or paint the timber dowel timber for a different look and style!
